Gaurav Saini

Gaurav Saini is an actor, director, drama-teacher and short-film maker. He started his journey in Theatre with Barry John, first doing the Diploma course Of Acting and later worked as an Assistant Teacher with him for two years at his school.He also used to conduct Martial Arts classes at the school, which were integral part of the acting traning.  

He has explored different forms of Theatre and approaches towards acting which include highly physical and rigorous forms of training in traditional Indian dance,martial arts  forms through various workshops. He has worked with Theatre directors and teachers from different parts of the country and outside India through numerous Intensive workshops. In January 2011, he attended a Ten day intensive workshop (at Varanasi)  in Corporeal Mime conducted by Thomas Leabhart from California.


Gaurav Saini is a Black-Belt and a certified instructor in Thang-Ta, an ancient martial art of Manipur in India. He is one of the first non-Manipuri student to be trained in the art directly under the masters in Manipur itself. He is trained in Kalarippayattu, Tai-Chi, Judo. Presently he is learning Aikido.

He is working as an Artist in Resident at NIRMAN, an NGO based in Varanasi, working on a theatre production with children and conducting (TIE) Theatre in Education training program with teachers and the staff.
